Alessandra Goktuna
Biography
Alessandra is a British artist based in London, specialising in hand-built stoneware and porcelain. Her work has a sensitivity and elegance that flow from the union of deep observation, a foundation in fine art and a bold ceramic practice.
Her work has been profoundly influenced by time spent on the South Coast of England. The coastline and its essence are reflected in her work. Salt-worn edges of found coastal objects are reimagined through glazes and textures, fusing earth and sea.
She now specialises in creating individual hand built and wheel thrown ceramics. Creating forms that are often functional, yet still reflect a fragile beauty. Drawing and painting remains an integral part of her practice, allowing for continued exploration with hand painting the ceramic surface. Alessandra holds an Art Foundation from Wimbledon School of Art and studied ceramics and painting at The Heatherley
